. the indication that we're getting now is that this is a big deal, that this is going to be very large, and that everything is going to be on the table as far as bringing the corporate tax rates down, closing tax loopholes, but also cuts in entitlement programs, medicare, medicaid, possibly talking about social security and changing the way it works in the long term. these are big items that obviously could not get done legislatively before the august 2nd deadline. if there was some agreement reached between the leaders to raise the debt ceiling and agree to the framework by which they are going to tackle these big ticket items, that would be a significant thing. and it seemed like both parties were so far apart it will be interesting to see through the weekend if there can be some negotiated deal on a big framework. martha: it's interesting, bret because we've heard a little bit of what has come out of the preliminary discussions that vice president biden was part of. it seemed as though in those discussions they would talk big dollar figures although they wouldn't talk about specific

business. a big buzz about a gall up poll showing that president obama would be defeated by a generic republican by 8 points and leads any of the spectacular candidates that he is paired against. what does this mean? franklyy absolutely nothing. a poll in this point in time is where they are today and not in 15 months. voters will automatically vote democrat and some automatically vote republican. the election is going to be decided by independent voters in the middle, and they are a long way from making up their mines on the next election. they are struggling whether or not they are having a next paycheck. while i enjoy a good game of politics as much as the next guy, there is a time to campaign and then there is a time to govern. president and members of congress from both parties have had their fun politicing the debt ceiling and now time to govern and resolve it. i don't think the world will face armageddon over failure to set the debt limit. there would be affects. you wouldn't be able to visit the national parks and coon get a passport and airport lines for tsa could take hours

, the big question is whether or not his defense attorneys will actually ask for this case and the charges to be dropped, and what the judge will say about that, or, if there's some other reason for them to meet. you know what, what we're learning is there are details that have come out about the accuser in this case, and her past, that even had the prosecution now asking questions about this woman. questions that this trial could hinge on, because she is their witness. the only way that they can really press sexual assault charges against dominic strauss-kahn is with her testimony, convincingly, so it has been said, by prosecutors up until now. will defense attorneys for dominic strauss-kahn then ask this judge to dismiss the charges based on the fact that the prosecution may or may not have enough evidence to go forward. we're watching this, that meeting is coming up, those manhattan prosecutors and defense lawyers, meeting in an office. as soon as we know what -- what has happened, we'll bring it to tower office. this is big news, this man lost his job behind the sexual assault charges
